Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Beyond the Car Seat presents yet another Bright & Early Board Book. However, this time it comes with a twist because I was duped. It all started at a Borders, which was going out of business and so it was like a feeding frenzy, and I spied a book starring Fred and Ted the stars of Big Dog . . . Little Dog. I the authors name was Eastman and so I thought it might be one that I didn’t know about. Well there was a reason I didn’t know about it. For you see it was 2007’s Fred and Ted Like to Fly written by an Eastman alright, P.D.’s son Peter.
I did however turn tragedy into triumph by realizing that the art was basically the same as the original. It would seem the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The story follows Fred and Ted on their continued adventures into the world of opposite living as the duo kite down to the tropics for some fun in the sun. Of course, once island bound the dogs don’t hang out at all since they never do the same thing. One is in the shade while the other is in the sun. One builds a small sand castle while the other builds a big one. In conclusion, how do I feel about falling for the switcheroo? I guess the short answer is that I am learning to live with it.
